APPOINTMENT OF UAPP CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
The Universities Academic Pension Plan (UAPP) Board of Trustees is very pleased to
announce the appointment of its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Chris Schafer,
effective April 1, 2024.
Mr. Schafer has been with UAPP since September 2013 as the Director, Finance and
Administration.
The responsibilities of the UAPP CEO include advancing the strategic plan for UAPP,
overseeing the investment management of the pension fund and the general operations of
the plan, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements, and
serving as the key contact with plan sponsors and third-party service providers.
Mr. Schafer is an Associate of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and the Society of
Actuaries. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Augustana Campus, University
of Alberta. He has a wealth of experience in the pension industry and has a strong
understanding of and passion for UAPP.
Mr. Schafer follows in this role Mr. Dave Schnore, who is retiring after a successful career
with UAPP.
The Board of Trustees is excited to be working with Mr. Schafer as the new CEO of UAPP.
